Campbell House (3 of 3)

Campbell House (3 of 3)

The Parlor
The parlor, or living room as we would call it today, is furnished with more modern artifacts than the cabin. Some of these include:

  • 1880s leather sofa and chair
  • Stereoscope (or stereopticon)
  • High-quality stove
  • 1870s pump organ
  • 1900s zither

Master Bedroom
The bedroom set in the master bedroom is original to the Campbell family. Some other items are:

  • 1850s quilt
  • 1880s baby cradle
  • Shaving set
  • Ladies’ combs, brushes and curling irons.

Summer Kitchen
The summer kitchen is not original to this house. The Campbells did have one, but the original rotted away and could not be saved. This summer kitchen has the same dimensions as the original and was added to the Campbell House in the late 1970s. It has many similar items as the other kitchen in the log cabin.

Back Porch & Bathroom
Around back is the back porch and bathroom. The bathroom fixtures were added during the home’s renovation.

Upstairs
The Campbell house has three rooms upstairs: the children’s room, the sewing/sitting room and the loft to the original log cabin. These rooms feature:

  • Quilting frame
  • Chamber pots or “thunder mugs”
  • Sewing machine
  • 1700s large spinning wheel
  • Children’s toys
  • Croup kettle
